100th One Happy Camper NJ grant recipient

Kate_Goldberg_resized.jpgKate Goldberg of Morris Plains is the 100th new area camper to be awarded a gift of $1,000 One Happy Camper grant toward her first Jewish overnight camp experience for 2016.  “Drama, art, swim, meeting new friends, and having a super fun experience at a brand new place” are what Kate is most excited for at Camp Nah-Jee-Wah. The grant is offered through One Happy Camper NJ, an initiative of The Partnership for Jewish Learning and Life/Jewish Federation of Greater MetroWest in collaboration with Jewish Community Foundation for Greater MetroWest and Foundation for Jewish Camp toward 150+ overnight camps and teen programs.  Since 2007, One Happy Camper NJ has awarded over $1.6 million.

My Part in The Partnership: Meet Theo

theo.pngChange is hard! I am used to all sorts of special attention. Each month an awesome Jewish book from PJ Library arrives in the mail just for ME! (I know because my mom always shows me the big blue and white envelope and tries to have me point to the T.)  She then reads the newest book to me over and over again... My mom is the greatest! And my dad is actually pretty great, too. I have learned sooo much about the Jewish holidays and traditions from hearing these stories and looking at the pretty pictures.  I have been getting the books since I could sit up so I have quite a library now of Jewish stories to read for bedtime.

The Great Shofar Blowout... One Year Later

GSB_with_2_logos.jpgIt was just about a year ago that we gathered on a Sunday morning to establish a new Guinness World Record. During five magical minutes, 1,022 people extended the breath of their souls through their shofars, reverberating with a collective blast heard not only throughout the community, but throughout the generations.
That is the memory - the joyous, wonderful communal memory that so many of us now carry as part of our Jewish experience. But the goal of The Partnership for Jewish Learning and Life in creating such a historic opportunity was much more than what we experienced during those culminating five minutes of T'kiyah! Sh'varim! T'ruah!
